Who Scuttles There? Part 1

February Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Hide & Seek”

Scuttle, scuttle, scuttle, disturbing the peace.

This was supposed to be a peaceful and relaxing moment on the beach tucked under a thatched umbrella focusing on nothing but the soft waves and the setting sun. Then came the scuttle, scuttle, scuttle sound on the sand beside my chair. (Thanks to Zapsplat.com for the sound effect.) This sound brought me right back to that moment.

Startled, my mind went straight to the phrase — Who goes there?

Dicitonary.com attributes this to the old-fashioned, Who is it who approaches? A clichéd challenge issued by a sentry or guard. Halt! Who goes there? State your name and business at once, or you shall be turned away by force.

Do you see the culprit in the photo above?

Shall it be turned away?

Thanks for reading. I hope everyone finds a way to keep their peace, turning away any unnecessary disturbances — but making time for the ones that bring a moment of awe. (See Part 2 for a close-up of the little guy before he scurried off to his freshly dug sand cave.)

Thanks to Mary Chang Story Writer for the six-word photo story challenge.
