Who Gives A Tuppeny Shit What The Neighbors Think!

If you don’t love your job, you’re in the wrong line of work.

I put out a little survey email to my list of newsletter subscribers not too long ago. In it, among other things, I said…

“The tricky bit though, is that I don’t actually know how many of you are actually in a job or business that you’d much rather not be doing.

So, help me out here would ya?

If that sounds like you, would you just hit reply to this email and let me know what job or business you are currently in, plus why you dislike it and would love to be out of it if you had the chance?”

I had some very interesting replies. Can’t share the actual individual replies here of course as they are private between the people who replied and myself.

However, what I can tell you is that the survey did reinforce a major belief of mine and that is this:-

If you don’t love your job, you’re in the wrong line of work!

The fact is that there are lots of people who do actually love their job and get a lot of fulfillment from the work they do. So, of course that is fine.

But for the many, many folks all over the world who don’t actually love their job and only do it because they have to, in order to pay the bills, well that’s a different story entirely.

I was one of those people for quite a while.

Corporate life.

And whilst I didn’t hate my job and was pretty good at it, I always felt that if I had the choice, that would definitely not be what I would choose to do with my life.

Know what I mean?

And then one day, I had one of those light-bulb moments when I realized something fairly life changing.

I realized that actually, I DID have a choice. I realized that I could actually CHOOSE to not be trapped any more.

It was a completely liberating feeling I can tell you.

I looked around me and came to understand that most folks are just going through the motions. Just doing what they have been programmed to do.

Going to work. Daily drudgery. Having two days a week off and just maybe a few weeks off for the whole of the rest of the year.

However, once you understand that you actually DO have a choice in the matter, only then do you actually start to even think about planning an escape route and looking into things that could allow you to live a different sort of lifestyle.

From that point on, you are no longer a slave to your employer, or to the situation you find yourself in.

Instead your current lifestyle becomes just something you are doing at the moment whilst you are actively thinking about what you will do instead.

And that thing you do instead can be the thing you’ve always wanted to do. It really and truly can. You just have to decide to make things change and to make change happen.

So, let me be the one to light the spark in you, right here, today.

I urge you to think hard about whether or not you’d like a change in your life.

And if you DO want things to be different, well then, start this very day to actively think about what you would like to do instead and start plotting and planning how you will make it happen.

Just by starting the process of even thinking about it and actually understanding that YOU are the one in charge of your life, the gates will swing wide open for you and the journey to preparing for (and achieving) a different life entirely will have begun for you!

How immensely bloody exciting is that?!!

For goodness sake (and for your OWN sake and sanity)…

…Don’t spend the next few years just getting older!

Instead, start taking action to organize an escape route for yourself.

It begins with the decision.

The decision about what you’d like to do instead.

How you’d like to make your living.

Where you’d like to live.

How you’d like to spend your days and who you’d like to share your new life with.

I was talking to someone recently whose marriage has broken down and who is about to have his home re-possessed by the bank. Not a great position to be in, obviously.

But actually, although at first glance it seems like it, being in this position is NOT actually the end of the world.

Life will go on. It always does.

Free from the burden of mortgage payments and a relationship that was not working for either party, I explained that this should actually be looked on as an opportunity to forge a new path.

Sure, it might mean moving in to somewhere very small to begin with. But small is also affordable and more affordable means less stress and worry.

Sometimes, the things that you are most worried about, the things that are causing you most stress, are the very things that you should be looking to remove from your life.

Mortgage bills feel overwhelming?

Move somewhere smaller and more affordable NOW, before you have to.

Having trouble paying the car loan?

Sell the bloody thing and buy an old banger that gets you from A to B.

But what will the neighbors think?

Who gives a tuppeny shit what the neighbors think?!!

Listen, stuff is seldom beyond your control and even when it is, it WON’T be the end of the world. It really won’t.

And it could just be the very opportunity you need and have been yearning for.

So start taking charge of your own destiny.

Because… I’ve got some news….No one else will do it for you!

Nobody is coming to rescue you.

And…

When YOU take charge of how YOU want to live your life, you begin the journey to a less stressed, happier and more fulfilled you.

Living in a place you love and doing something you love in order to bring the money in, can be like being on permanent vacation.

Ask me how I know!

And, the fact is, I wasn’t gifted this different lifestyle by some shiny golden unicorn that shits ice-cream and opportunity dust.

No. Surprisingly (and rather sadly) those don’t exist.

So YOU have to start making changes yourself.

Like I said…

** If you don’t love your job, you’re in the wrong line of work.

** Don’t let your life be something that just happens to you — Create your OWN life instead!

** Don’t spend the next few years just getting older.
