The Incident
Everybody was happy. The local circus was in the town of Elmwood and spirits were high. The circus had one more show to perform that night and the high wire trapeze artists had scheduled a performance to leave Elmwood with a “show to remember.” The circus itself had brought such excitement to the town that the towns’ banker had even granted a loan to the city council to advertise the circus across three counties, to help bring more business to the town.
Each night of the circus brought more and more wonder and amazement to the crowds.
The weather was very warm the whole time the circus was in town and one of the circus workers had even brought the baby circus elephant to the local shopping parking lot and used a water hose to cool off the little guy. The school officials loved it so much they closed school early that day and let the kids watch the baby elephant getting hosed off. The kids absolutely loved it, watching the baby elephant frolicking in the water!
The local church decided with all the traffic in town it was a good time to raise money for the youth and they quickly scheduled a car wash with the youth right on the corner of main street. The church teens were on the corner waving their “CAR WASH” signs with great enthusiasm.
Vendors begin lining the streets selling popcorn and sodas and cotton candy.
It was a good time by all.
Amidst all the activity a crime of epic proportions took place at the local jewelry store. Known for its exquisite collection, the “Elegance” jewelry store had a break in on the last night of the circus. While the crowds were being amazed by the flying escapades of those on the trapeze, a cunning thief managed to evade numerous security measures and escape with a fortune in precious gemstones and expensive pieces of jewelry from the fine holdings kept at the “Elegance.”
The incident left the entire town in shock and disbelief.
The following morning while the circus was busy packing the local authorities swiftly initiated an investigation. The seasoned detective, inspector Klark Jameson, known for his keen eye and meticulous attention to detail was put in charge of the investigation.
Inspector Jameson was determined to bring the culprit to justice and restore peace to the town!
As Inspector Jameson began probing the case, a few small clues began to emerge. One possible footprint was discovered near the back entrance of the store, suggesting a possible point of entry for the thief. The store’s security cameras also captured about two seconds of grainy footage of a quickly moving figure hovering over the back door locking mechanism.
With these puzzling pieces of evidence, the investigation intensified . . .
