Take time to reflect

Who do you see when you look in the mirror? It’s the same person you’ve known all your life. They are your best friend and your worst enemy. That person in the mirror loves you. They want you to succeed, and they know you better than anyone, so maybe you should listen to them. If just for a minute.

Your past is a combination of the successes and failures you have experienced, some big and some small. Yet here you stand, on a day that is the sum of all that came before. If you are looking in the mirror in the morning, your day is a blank slate. You can make the day whatever you want it to be. Every thought, feeling, decision, and action is yours to own. Take control.

When you check in with yourself in the evening, talk about how your day has gone. Did you win it? If you have not measured up to your standards, what will you do to get a little closer tomorrow? We are not always at our best.Don’t expect to go from 0 to 100, but from 30 to 31 or 60–61.

What have you learned today that you can apply tomorrow? Think back and tell your reflection a success from the day, no matter how small. The person you see looking back at you wants to be your number one fan. Give yourself a chance to understand what you have experienced. Think through it. If you have had setbacks share those and resolve to be better tomorrow.

Make your friend in the mirror proud of you. Being accountable to them and striving to be the best version of yourself will brighten their smile, chase away the doubts, and have you feeling more confident that you are becoming the person you both want to be. To do that you have to take action. That is what the person in the mirror is waiting for.

Life is a challenge. We all have our own battles. Through those, it is important that we love and treasure ourselves. Then we are enhancing our sense of self-worth and self-love. Everyone has problems and feelings that they are not enough. You are enough, and you can beat back those problems with perseverance. You have made it this far, so keep going.

When you look in the mirror love the person you see, be positive and supportive. Take this opportunity to let them know you care about them because beauty comes from the inside out.
