Summary

The web content presents a reflective poem about loss and transformation, written in both English and Italian, accompanied by a photograph of an abstract woman.

Abstract

The poem "Who Are You Looking For? — Chi Cerchi?" is a contemplative piece that explores the theme of searching for someone who has undergone a profound transformation. It describes a woman who has been through a metamorphosis, having been "crushed to be cracked open" and swallowed by mornings, suggesting a complete absorption into a new state of being. The poem reflects on the illusions of youth and the disillusionment that comes with the realization that there may be no magic in the world, only weeds of illusion that grow unchecked. The speaker implies that the woman they seek has ceased to exist in the way she once did, having been forged by her own grief into something new, and now she rises from her own ashes. The Italian version echoes these sentiments, emphasizing the futility of seeking the past version of this woman, as she has been fundamentally changed by her experiences and the passage of time.

Opinions

  • The poem conveys a sense of loss and irreversible change, suggesting that the person being sought has been altered beyond recognition.
  • There is a tone of disillusionment with the past, as the speaker reflects on the idea that the magic of youth was perhaps only ever an illusion.
  • The poem suggests that growth and healing come from within, as the woman is "forged by her own grief," implying that personal struggles are instrumental to personal evolution.
  • The use of the metaphor "a hole can never be whole" points to the idea that trying to recapture or return to a previous state is impossible and fruitless.
  • The poem's bilingual presentation may indicate a desire to reach a wider audience or to emphasize the universality of the themes of loss and transformation.

Who Are You Looking For?

Who are you looking for? Don’t bother knocking – she’s gone. Crushed to be cracked open, night after night after night. Mornings swallowed her whole. ⁣Splinters of her are all you’ve ever seen. The faces of youth danced with wild abandon where she learnt — there is no magic left. Maybe there never was. ⁣Only illusions, growing like weeds. Dig, dig, dig your own grave. But what do you know of growth?⁣ A hole can never be whole. She was and she ceased. Forged by her own grief, she rises.

Chi Cerchi?

Chi cerchi?
