Maybe a White Supremacist Muppet Would Make Conservatives Happy
Let’s be honest with our children about the Republican mindset

The Republicans are pretending to be victims once again. The latest kerfuffle is that they’re furious Sesame Street elected to introduce an Asian-American Muppet.
Conservatives are mad because they’ve been coasting to election victories on the basis of anti-Asian hate propaganda. They’re furious they might come home and find their children angry when they recount tales of sucker punching innocent people in public just because they don’t look “white” enough.
The horror, the horror.
Republicans always insist that their viewpoint needs to be represented. Fine. I say we give it to them. Sesame Street should introduce a white supremacist Muppet named Donald Duke (name chosen at random). He can be a violent little twerp everyone hates who stomps into every scene and screams that all the other characters are “lazy” even as he waves around his government disability checks.
Our nation would be served by a few more programs telling the truth about what Republicans actually believed. Our kids are destined to suffer because of their policies, they might as well get a little forewarning about what the United States is really all about.
The Asian-American Muppet
How can conservatives seriously object to the inclusion of an Asian-American Muppet? See, if we had the white supremacist Muppet, he could answer questions like these just the way Republicans answer them.
Donald Duke: “Well, I’ll tell you one thing, it’s NOT because of racism!”
He can then go on to physically assault anyone who disagrees with him.
At least we can all agree that Republicans are angry, some have even called for the program to be canceled. That’s right, Republican cancel culture is operating in full force.
What do we call that kids? That’s right! It’s called hypocrisy!
Matt Schlapp, the president of the Conservative Political Action Committee, has drawn criticism from Asian Americans and others across social media this week after he called for “Sesame Street” to be defunded for introducing its first Asian American Muppet.
Schlapp, a conservative lobbyist, tweeted a news story about the coming debut of a Korean American character, Ji-Young. The Muppet has been praised for letting Asian American children see a character like themselves on screen, but Schlapp slammed the host network, PBS, which receives both government and private-sector funding — Kimmy Yam
Why? He went into details about the “what” of his rage, but not the “why.”
I keep saying, “why” because this episode of racism in America is brought to you by the letter “Y.” Why are Republicans so racist?
Why does including an Asian-American Muppet make conservatives frothing at the mouth angry?
It was announced earlier this week that the long-running children’s programme will be introducing the character, called Ji-Young, to educate young viewers about anti-Asian racism — Maanya Sachdeva
Oh, that’s it! They don’t want young people to know that anti-Asian racism exists!
But that’s not the only kind of racism that Republicans deny now is it kids?
Republican racism denial
Republicans always object to any effort to teach American children about racism.
“It’s a winning issue with independents, and it’s good for the base, but I really think rank-and-file American voters who are in the middle, whether you’re center-left, center-right, suburban votes, parents, I think they all feel like America’s not a racist nation, critical race theory is being shoved down everybody’s throat,” said Bob Heckman, a Republican consultant — David Siders
Republicans deny a lot of things. They deny evolution. They deny climate change. They deny that their tax cuts to the rich don’t trickle down. They deny racism exists and no amount of evidence to the contrary is going to convince them otherwise. They offer nothing but obstruction and denial, never any solutions.
Republicans are like those people who never want to tell you where they want to eat.
“I don’t know, anywhere is fine.”
“Okay, let’s go to Perkins.”
“Ewwww! No! Not there! Anywhere but there!”
“Applebee’s?”
“Gross!”
What do Republicans stand for? All they do is complain when decent people put forth a strategy to fix a problem, and when Republicans win elections and it’s their turn to “lead” they do nothing but drive up the deficit, cut taxes for the rich, and insist everything is perfect.
Since Republicans don’t really object to white supremacy, the idea of a white supremacist Muppet is a really effective idea. What are they going to do? Are they going to say it’s shameful to have a white supremacist on a children’s television show? That would be like denouncing white supremacy and we know they’re hardwired against doing that.
What an episode with a white supremacist Muppet might look like
Donald Duke, the white supremacist Muppet, could come skipping up in his Klan robes carrying an AR-15. All the other characters would groan, “Not this guy.”
“So much for the tolerant left,” Donald Duke says. “Everybody hates me even though I haven’t done anything at all.”
“Actually, you are doing something,” the random adult says. “You’re covered in hate propaganda that is hurtful because it insults people who might look different than you.”
“So, you want to oppress my ability to express myself because you don’t like what I have to say? What about freedom of speech… Hitler?” says Donald Duke.
“Nobody is oppressing your freedom of speech,” random adult explains. “You weren’t complaining about that, you were complaining that they hate you.”
“Yeah!” Donald Duke says. “Don’t you think that hate is wrong! Why are you letting everyone hate me? So much for your message of acceptance! I’m the real victim here!”
“But Donald Duke, you are the one who brought hate to Sesame Street with all the hate propaganda you’re wearing. If you don’t want people to hate you, then stop hating them first. You see, you can put your hate propaganda away. Other people can’t change the color of their skin. Can’t you see the difference?”
Just then a kid comes riding up on a skateboard which makes a clattering noise on the curb. Donald Duke is startled by the noise and he shoots the kid fifty times with his AR-15 which is equipped with an illegal bump stock.
“Donald Duke! What are you doing!”
“It was self-defense, that arsonist rioter tried to attack me with a deadly weapon!”
“It was a kid on a skateboard!”
Then the next 19 weeks can be a trial where Donald Duke is eventually exonerated and Sesame Street is closed down to build an immigrant detainment center. Even the bump stock misdemeanor is thrown out on a technicality.
Conservatives would love it!
We do have to tell our kids about what’s happening
The Republican propaganda model is targeting our children in plain sight. It’s comical that a few months ago, conservatives were criticizing the left for what they claimed was an effort to “cancel” Dr. Seuss.
The truth is, the Republicans always get hopping mad when anyone tries to bring an ounce of decency to the mainstream media.
[PBS] has been airing “Sesame Street” since its first episodes in 1970. The show has long been used to promote messages about health, respect and inclusion.
Since its earliest days, PBS has been accused of liberal bias by conservatives, with President Richard Nixon criticising public broadcasting during his presidency and many conservatives since following suit — Tom Porter
When you talk about “decency” it’s seen as a “liberal bias.”
The story here is that for 50 years, Republicans have been furious about any effort made to discuss health, respect, and inclusion.
Our children deserve to know what they’re up against. Put a white supremacist on the Muppets as a warning to what our kids can expect to face in the real world. Heck, many children in America live in homes infested by white supremacists already. You can be sure none of them are ever exposed to any messaging that might suggest such an attitude is wrong.
Maybe that’s part of the problem.
