White Privilege in Corporate

A poem

Photo by Gregory Hayes on Unsplash

I get marketing emails

From firms and their sales

By pretending to be woke

When all they want is my broke.

Brands have an option

To not be obnoxious

And do shit that’s actually good

For our friends in the hood

But instead they want your sale

So their execs can eat kale

While black lives are in a food desert

With grocery stores rounding a skirt

Opening a business there

As they don’t really care.

Will your marketing bullshit

Make real change in a bit?

I beg to differ

As your c-suite is thicker

Of white men in a frat

Who are looking to bat

The next black person away

From a place to stay

As an opportunity in corporate

Is gone due to not proportionate

Oops for black men and women

To become c-suite execs.
