Summary

"Whispers of Colors" is a poetic reflection on the intangible yet vivid experiences of life and love, as perceived through synesthetic imagery.

Abstract

The poem "Whispers of Colors" by Chigozirim Emeka is a rich tapestry of sensory experiences, where the author describes dancing to unheard melodies, feeling the ephemeral touch of colors, and hearing the ancestral language. The verses evoke a world where love songs whisper in the ears, kisses leave traces on the forehead, and the blush of cheeks is likened to the touch of butterflies. The poem paints a picture of a soul delighting in the crystal dew of a water rush and the changing colors of light, culminating in a profound connection with the intangible essence of love and existence.

Opinions

  • The poet conveys a deep appreciation for the unseen yet powerfully felt aspects of nature and emotion.
  • There is a sense of wonder and mystique in the way the poet describes interacting with colors as if they were living entities.
  • The poem suggests a spiritual or transcendent experience, where the narrator feels close to ancestors through the 'language' of colors and sensations.
  • The imagery used by the poet implies a belief in the interconnectedness of the senses, where touch, sound, and sight blend into a holistic experience.
  • The author seems to find beauty in the ephemeral and indefinable, emphasizing the accuracy of experiences that cannot be physically grasped.

Dancing to unknown melodies Influence by their moves I join in the rhythm

I touch, But they are void It is natural; I can see It is accurate; I can’t touch

In my ears Whispers of love song On my forehead, lines of kisses

My cheek blush On the pink kisses Of butterflies’ paint

My soul delighted In crystal dew Of the water rush

White from the rays Appeared blue More close, purple On me, love of pinkish rose

Yeah, I heard language of The ancestors.
