Whiskey, Neat

Day 14 of 💯: A deep thirst can lead to even deeper trouble, especially when you’re all alone in this cruel, mean world.

With a throat parched from the desert, I park in the street and saunter into the nearest hole-in-the-wall around. I drop my weary ass on a stool and inspect the joint. It’s the usual collection of local rummies and wannabe tough guys, looking for an easy score. A local senorita gives me a wink and a smile, but my scowl is my protection. She’s been ridden hard and put away wet — I don’t want whatever extra memories she’s carrying. I turn to the barkeep, and say “Whiskey, neat. Keep it flowing.”

And then the lights went out.

Inspired by Zane Dickens💯 Story Challenge. Let’s see how long I last. One more criteria I’m adding is the stories will be self-published and not in a Medium publication.

Rocky Shores may have had a few too many double espressos and double Irish Creams when he wrote this, but those are what fuels his vivid imagination. Plus, about a pound of coke snorted off his own tits.

He is an arrogant, opinionated, smug SOB, as well as a hard drinkin’ and a hard lovin’ man, with a taste for the fast life. As he often quoted, “You only live once, so grab the bull by the horns and ride, baby, ride”. He is a teller of truths, even if it’s lies.
