While the Music is Playing
Escape from the surreal world

I am in a world far away removed from today’s surreal existence,
simply existing in a sweet solitude, dreaming undisturbed.
My feet run without inhibition in this world of faeries and gnomes,
knights and damsels purely sweet, in a world all their own.
The greenest meadows ever seen, heather in full bloom
exude a heady fragrance, alabaster jar sending it flowing.
Distant this land is even to me, mere mortal chained to this earth,
yet freed by the voice in the wind and sweet melodies carrying me away.
Dusk comes to the heathered meadow, embracing me peacefully,
as I am alive, yet weary from the troubles and sorrows in this life.
I fall prostrate on the green and lavender cushion and hear the
distant melodic strains calling me back to my troubled world.
Back to my world as concrete as the marble mantle top in the room.
Yet, I am revived — revitalized by the wind while the music played.
