Which Baggage/s Are You Carrying On?

Maybe it’s time to let some go..

From the time we were born to now, we have lived, experienced few things here and there. Some were pleasurable, some weren’t. C’est la vie, you don’t get to choose only the good part, it’s a package.

But why do some of us keep carrying on the part of the baggage that wasn’t pleasant? Maybe it’s time to question that and let some of it go? Because most likely that part isn’t serving us anymore.

Yes, the past is important to acknowledge and assimilate but, is it worthy to keep carrying it around? Wouldn’t we be a tiny bit lighter if we could let some of it stay in the storage room? Then maybe we could live a present non blurred by the heaviness of the past and look towards the future with lighter shoulders?

What type of baggage are you carrying?

  • Maybe it was the playground bullies that made fun of you, and you took on the name Worthless.
  • Maybe it was a parent who abandoned you, and you took on the name Insecure.
  • Maybe it was a terrible decision you made, and you adopted the name Not Enough.
  • Maybe your kids are making choices that are breaking your heart, and you claim the name Broken.
  • Maybe you came across some people that treated you poorly and you took on the name Lonely.
  • Maybe it was that exclusion that made you take on the name Outsider.
  • Maybe it was that exceptional commonly called “weird” part of you that was too much to handle for some and you took on the name Not Belonging?

Ohh dear! No matter what you may have taken on from the past. It is about time to let that go, live the present and look towards the future with lighter shoulders.

Let it go

  • Because those bullies were probably more miserable and unloved than you were then. Remember that “only hurting people hurt”.
  • Because that parent who abandoned you didn’t know better. It has more to do with him/her than it has to do with you.
  • Because that decision you took is probably the one that contributed to your current maturity and wisdom.
  • Because your kids simply have to go through life by their own, face their own fears, experience life on their owns terms. Make mistakes, grow from it.
  • Because those people that left you feeling lonely didn’t know better. Because loneliness is a feeling not a fact. You are a call, a talk, a walk away from a fellow human being. Reach out, there will be at least one person who will open the door.
  • Because that exclusion is part of what made you build yourself up and stand tall and strong by yourself. This is also what will fuels you to be an advocate of inclusion because you know how it feels to be excluded.

“For freedom did Christ set us free: stand fast therefore, and be not entangled again in a yoke of bondage”.

— Galatians‬ ‭5:1‬

Until next time dear reader, take good care. Be blessed abundantly.

One love✨💜
