Wherever You Are, There You Are
You can’t hide from yourself

You can hide from your spouse.
You can hide from your children.
You can hide from your friends.
You can hide from your detractors.
You can hide from your job.
But you can NEVER hide from yourself.
So, what can you do about it? I would suggest getting to know yourself better. Why do you hide from everybody? Why do you sometimes wish that you could disappear onto the proverbial tropical island all by yourself and be happy all alone?
The entire rest of the world can disappear from your sight and mind but you are always there.
Strange, isn’t it? If all of the world’s problems would finally leave your mind, what would remain?
You would, of course.
Then, what can you do about your biggest problem that happens to live between your own two ears? The Serenity Prayer tells exactly what to do.
The Serenity Prayer says “God grant me the serenity. To accept the things I cannot change. The courage to change the things I can. And the wisdom to know the difference.”
That’s right, change ourselves.
“But, isn’t it all of those other people who are running around causing all of these problems?”
Let’s make the answer very simple. “NOPE!”
These “other people” are not inside your head. YOU ARE! That’s right. With the others, you don’t have to listen, or see, or join. You can avoid or at the least not follow the words or actions of others.
But, as the title states “Wherever you are, there you are!” You are inside your own head. No one or nothing else is. Unless you put it there with your own thoughts and actions.
So, if your head is filled with you, there is no room for anyone else. It is time that you became your own gatekeeper, keeper of a one-way gate. Nothing else is allowed in other than you unless you invite it.
Then, if you invite it in, treat it with the respect that an invited guest deserves.
We will get to the next step, self-love, when you do this. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to always be in the company of your best friend rather than your worst enemy? Since you are at least thinking about it now, it will happen if you choose to allow it.
Thank you, God!
