Where You’re Supposed To Be Is Exactly Where You Are

So, no more about coincidences or luck!

Wherever you are it is the right place Photo by Jake Blucker on Unsplash

What do you think? Is there a God or not? And if there is, is He everything, or is He nothing? Are you being Divinely inspired or are you just very lucky?

Alcoholics like me came into recovery with all kinds of preconceived ideas about our luck, good and bad, and the crazy coincidences that occur in our lives. “If it wasn’t for bad luck, I wouldn’t have any luck at all.”

“That little black cloud follows me around dumping bad ju-ju all over me.”

And, one doesn’t need to be an alcoholic to feel any of these things. It just seems to be that way.

In the Big Book of AA, the chapter To the Agnostics, it says “When we became alcoholics, crushed by a self-imposed crisis we could not postpone or evade, we had to fearlessly face the proposition that either God is everything or else He is nothing. God either is, or He isn’t. What was our choice to be?”

I had chosen to leave God out of my life for many years because I had so many negative thoughts about who and what He is. To me, The Higher Power was a force in male human form “Up in Heaven,” wherever and whatever that was.

I knew He was judging me and imposing punishment because I had been told “Jim, you’re going to Hell for that” or “God’s going to get you for that.” And since I heard it a lot, I thought that there must be some truth to it.

So, is God everything, or is He nothing?

God is the energy that created the entire universe and everything in it and keeps it all running and growing. He created human beings, canine beings, feline beings, reptile beings, avian beings, aquatic beings, and countless others.

These beings are self-contained packages of life that breathe and have a heartbeat, and they are all creations of God.

God is the energy that created plant life or flora. He provides the water and nutrition that is needed to grow and live.

Then, there are the many ways God has worked to spread His Divine intelligence throughout the universe. Since all beings are extensions of God and one with all that exists, access to His intelligence is inherited by all.

Imagine that! We are given access to the one mind of the universe at birth. It is only taken from us after the use of another God-given gift, free will. Either our own or that imposed on us by others.

I haven’t a clue how I could or would even try to describe God as nothing. There is only one answer to the question posed in the topic. God is everything.

Thank you, God!
