STYLES OF LEADERSHIP
Where Mole Leaders do well…
In established firms, mole’s leadership style is highly effective, which may explain why it is so difficult to harvest innovation there.

There is no such thing as “good” or “bad” wildlife in nature.
The ecosystem depends on a delicate balance between all of its parts, each of which has a specific skill that helps the others.
The same applies to organizations.
There are many different leadership styles, and each type has unique traits that permit specific “survival” or “development” tasks.
Mole’s leadership style is very successful in established organizations, which may explain why it is difficult to farm innovation there.
Moles are tiny creatures living in most regions (industries?): Meadows, urban areas, gardens, grasslands, sand dunes, and mixed forests host their tunnels (In all organizations!).
They spend their lives mostly underground (limited customer-facing), digging tunnels (building their network!), and looking for food.
They are colorblind and have weak eyesight (limited vision). Farmers (innovators) regard garden pests, as their extensive tunnel systems (the network!) delay the harvest (against their own interest as they will have more food, but as said, they are almost blind.
If moles are around, you can forget about farming!
