Enjoying Vidya Sury's Collecting Smiles: Where I Am From and she inspired me to write this piece.

I am from everywhere and nowhere That allows me to be very aware

I am from poverty, while learning the value of wealth Fighting to stay in the middle not going below the belt

I am from failure and success Both teach different lessons on how to progress

I am from Yes and No Both can save or end my life, wherever I go

I am from bravery and cowardice Both I fear like a throw of a dice

I am from heaven and hell A taste of both can determine where I dwell

I am from love and hate I learn from both before it’s too late

I am from kindness and cruelty One is ugly, the other is a beauty I have a choice, and kindness became my duty

I am from joy and sorrow Always hoping for a happier tomorrow

I am from ignorance and knowledge. I know a lot, even though I didn’t finish college

I am from sanity and madness Both have caused me distress But staying in the middle, I can see all who want to harm or impress Guiding me, while showing me what’s best

I am from wisdom and stupidity Learning from both on how to live and love humanity

I am from laughter and tears I use both to heal and repair My heart when I am in despair. Sharing only laughter whether you are far or near

I am from war and peace Understanding that one needs unity to increase

I am from a smile and a frown One stays up and the other must stay down

I am from guilt and innocence Tasting both makes a difference

I am from honesty and lies One destroys, and the other energize Because, with the truth, nothing will be in disguise You will see life with your own eyes

I am from beautiful and ugly Both are inside all of humanity And I can choose to be beautiful without vanity

I am from freedom and captivity None of them can halt my productivity No matter where I am I stick to positivity

I am from dirty and clean Each takes a turn, never both on the scene

I am from light and darkness Hope and love, I can identify in all of life’s wickedness

I am from good and evil Both have causes and reasons But I have a choice, cause, and reasons to be good all seasons

I am from pleasure and pain Life taught me how to endure both again and again.

I am from famine and feast. Understanding that both teach lessons every day of the week

I am from loss and gain Each must be allowed to play their game

I am from giving and taking Exchanging good intentions, being real not faking

I am from life and death Everything that begins, must have an end

If I miss anything, life will give me a second chance Because I am from BALANCE!

Balance allows me to understand life’s trials, obstacles, and whys. Giving balance its due, helps me to simplify life and stay healthy and sane. Lol.
