Where do they go?
Thank you, “Bodoque,” our beautiful yellow kitten with crossed blue eyes.
Today I had the sad experience to say goodbye to my beloved cat. And now, with the increasing amount of COVID deaths, this could seem irrelevant.
I recognize you cannot compare the loss of a house member or loved one with a pet. But love and sorrow don’t distinguish between them.
Losing my parents, my best friend, and relatives were painful events. But as a Catholic, I believe they are together in the afterlife, Heaven, or wherever your religion tells you.
According to movies, “All Dogs go to Heaven.” But isn’t this is a little racist?
Wondering
Do these extraordinary creatures reincarnate, returning with love and happiness?
Or they are in a special place with furniture to scratch, bookcases to climb, and fresh salmon every day. With many children willing to play, caress them, and listen to their purrs.
Being rewarded for hours of company, tenderness, and the moments of joy they bring boys and girls lucky to have them as pets. Even dressed as dolls and forced to sit down for tea, they always show their devotion by laying on your lap.
It is hard for me not to consider a playground for those beautiful beings full of love and light.
Reminiscing
You’ll never be the master of a feline. They don’t respect limits, everything you have at home belongs to them, and you are there at their service. Also, they see anything that moves as prey, even your bare feet.
They love to rub against your head. And despite the mess, while you’re at work, a meow, and a sad look, makes you forget about all.
There are many sizes, breeds, and unique characters, but there is one, just for you. Every cat lover knows that you do not choose them; it is they who adopt you.
We love to see them in funny situations trying to catch something or scared with a cucumber. Also chasing a laser beam on the floor and walls, hiding inside a box, or as kittens inside a teacup. We like them so much that we share millions of images and memes on the Internet. And every cat lover has several photos of them on the cell phone.
Thank you, “Bodoque,” our beautiful yellow kitten with crossed blue eyes. For your love, company, and the affection you gave us. We will remember each of your grunts, purrs, and all the 13 years you shared your beautiful life at home.
Above all, thanks to you and millions of pets, for teaching us that no matter the pandemic or the quarantine, being with you reminds us to live our lives better.
