Where Did All The Hippies Go?

Is It The Power That Changed Them?
How did the generation of Peace Love and do your own thing become the generation of war, hate, and do what you are told?
If you’re from the hippy generation, and not in a position of power, are you wondering too?
I’m sure if you were one of us who believed in personal liberty and freedom and was questioning our government’s power over us. Did you forget what we were fighting for?
Remember This?
It was in the sixties. our country was engulfed in Vietnam war. Many of us were concerned with the draft. Taking us from our youth and pushed in to fight a war, of their making. Our government was fighting against communism, or so we were told. To many of us, it appeared to be a senseless war.
“COUNTRY JOE: FEEL LIKE I’M FIXIN TO DIE RAG “(1969)
Vietnam: A proxy war against China. A country struggling itself with a wide range of social and political problems. A country at the time dealing with mass poverty and human rights atrocities. Yet somehow they were able to finance a war with the United States of America. And appear to be winning.
At home, we were confronting many serious human and civil rights challenges.
We believed we were marching and protesting against a tyrannical government. Oppressing us, forcing us to participate in this war. We also believed they were resisting the advancements in the civil rights of minorities and women.
We felt confined. We were aware that our government was infringing on our constitutional rights and restricting our freedom and liberty.
Wait Till Our Time To Govern Comes
Fast forward, January 20, 1993, when Bill Clinton was inaugurated as the 42nd president of the United States. Now a president from our generation. Now there was hope. A president who would restore our freedom and personal liberty. Someone who would bring us back to the true intent of our constitution. Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness.
Now our generation is in power.
The Clinton Presidency
Eight Years of Peace, Progress, and Prosperity
Look this up. you will see that President Clinton put forward policies that appeared on the surface to be for the people. And in their intent they were. For once addressing the struggles of the working class, minorities, women, and the disenfranchised.
If you study these policies, I believe most would agree. Policies position that had long been suppressed by our political leaders. Avoiding repealing laws that were enriching themself and keeping them in power far too long.
Somehow as we move on, many of these policies became corrupted. They were becoming tools to divide us. To move us into political corners.
Once again being left up to interpretation by a politician. They would prevent them and conceal how they were planning to use them to serve their ambitions.
But from the start of his administration, accusations start to arise. Claims of sexual misconduct while governor of Arkansas.
Throughout his two terms, numerous other sexual and corruption claims against him and his wife surfaced.
Leaving us once again feeling deceived by a political leader. Another politician using his power to enrich himself and his circle.
Moving ahead, in comes George W. Bush
Another president from our generation. But not from the working class. A third-generation politician.
This is not new in our government. We’ve seen this from the beginning of our country. Several generations of our political leaders have followed after each other. You could say making us looking much like a monarch.
Back to wars and global entanglements. Sure some will say it’s not his fault. The actions of 9/11/ 2001 are what initiated the response from us.
Yet again, we question. Many of the facts and details as what lead up to this attack were not truly addressed. It’s not the intent of this article to investigate this tragic incident.
The purpose is how it was used as a reason to comprise or personal liberty. Shortly after the attack, our government enacted the “Patriot Act”.
Another Grab For Power
The USA Patriot Act is a law passed shortly after September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in the United States. That act gave law enforcement agencies broad powers to investigate, indict, and bring terrorists to justice. It also led to increased penalties for committing and supporting terrorist crimes.

Although the intent was to aid in the war against terrorism and terrorist attacks.
It also opens the door to infringement on our liberty.
Just one more step into government control. And involvement in another war.
A New Chapter And A Historic Election
2008 Barack Obama was elected president, he became the first African American to hold office. Obama faced major challenges during his two-term tenure in office. His primary policy achievements included health care reform, economic stimulus, banking reform, and consumer protections, and a repeal of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy preventing lesbian and gay Americans from serving openly in the military.
(The White House Historical Association)
We indeed come a long way. The first African American elected president.
The hope that came with his election brought promise that maybe we have at last turned the corner on race relations in our country.
Sad as events unfolded it seem that race relations were regressing.
The right and left political parties were becoming more divided. Some by personal prejudices, some on policies.
In both, things were not moving in the direction many of us hoped for.
Instead of many of the policies brought forward were indeed good for our country. They too had buried in them moves to restrict our freedom and liberty.
Surrendering ever more power to the government.
In Comes Donald John Trump
November 2017 Donald J. Trump.
The first president in my life time, elected from outside the political arena.
A businessman, and media personality. Love him or hate him, he was to become a president from the citizenry. Not rising from the political ranks as those before him.
A man who lived the great American dream. Amassing wealth and popular celebrity. Who before his election was embraced by people from both sides of the political spectrum.
But soon to become one of the most controversial presidents in history.
Receiving negative and unfavorable appraisals from every institution in our country. Why?
What Were His Positions? Why The Overwhelming Reaction?
He entered into the race with the motto “Make America Great Again”. Why was that so upsetting? And to whom?
If you honestly look at what his objectives were, where was the problem?
He addressed how our country and government were moving further away from the original intent of our constitution.
The true intent of “Life, Liberty. and the pursuit of Happiness”. A government of, by, and for the people.
How could it be that every institution? The political, the media, academia, and the cultural elites were against him.
This should have caused everyone a moment to reflect.
Why would a president who proposed to address the same problems that we as a country and every president before his promised to correct forever?
Why was it that all of a sudden, he seemed to be discredited and feared? Was it because he was an outsider? Not one that had been entrenched in the political system forever?
Could it be that the political class was worried? Their lack of any serious attempt to correct the issues confronting our country would now be exposed.
Did the political class know something the rest of us didn’t?
What Was Going On Here?
November 2017 Donald J. Trump is inaugurated. From that moment he moves into action. Presenting policies and programs to address all the same problems all the presidents before him proposed, The media and political class went mad. condemning him and accusing him of many serious crimes.
This all seemed crazy. Why didn’t everyone want these issues to hopefully be resolved once and for all?
Wouldn’t it help the country, and the world be a better place? This question should make everyone realize, we’re being played.
If you don’t understand why I say this. Let me explain.
For centuries, the problems have faced humanity. The same injustices lead to the rise and fall of many great societies throughout civilization.
Every great government following the rule of the generational monarchs. Promised to lead their people out of bondage and oppression.
Yet in the end, they all failed their people. Why?
What happened? Why did they fail? How did they lose their way?
Pondering these questions there can be but one conclusion.
Ego. The allure of power, how it corrupts the minds of men.
By giving these leaders power over the people to improves their lives. Their egos become drunk with God-like images of themselves.
Thinking about their view of the world, how their citizens must live is the right and only way. Their ideology is the only one that everyone must live by. Except for themselves, and those that keep them in power.
Could this be forever a plague on civilization?
Many of us hope and pray for a true savior. Someone of a higher power. Someone who is truly just and selfless. As many followers of religion have seen the profits of the past fail. Being destroyed by the very people they hoped to save. Could this all be but an endless cycle of life?
Are we not all responsible for our demise.
