Where Am I From?
What colored my journey.
From inside my mother’s belly we crossed the vast Atlantic in a boat I could not see that caused her terrible seasickness
I was born in a fortress of gold without a silver spoon then I moved so many times I could not know where I was from
I am from the cold and dark city skyscrapers casting shadows street noise at a fever pitch everyone in a hurry
I am from the suburbs they were all much the same I am from the sandlot where I daydreamed in the outfield
I am from the forest where ever there was one I am from the desert where I was nurtured by the sun
I am from the places the family went to on vacation monuments, beaches, museums roads curving through fall foliage
I am from the mountains so high above all else I am from the prairie where I follow the clouds
I am from a planet where life and love and joy surround me in paradise when I open my eyes and see
I am from a little room lit by a laptop glow I am from the immensity of All That Is
