When Your Comments Are So Long

…..that they turn into articles….

Recently, I was commenting on someone’s article because they’d asked a question. Well, if you know me, I have an opinion or answer for just about anything under the sun.

And if you ask me, having the social-worker/helper mentality that I do, I’m going to try my best to answer your question. (I also have been known to do this to statements in which the person doing the speaking raises his voice at the end of the sentence… making it sound like a question…when it really wasn’t.)

The reason I bring this up is that my comment became rather lengthy and involved and at one point I began to question what I was doing leaving it as just a response when it clearly had turned into an article located in the comment section.

Surely I am not alone in this situation. Have you made lengthy comments that you’ve actually turned into articles? (and if you have, why haven’t you been commenting on MY articles, for heaven’s sake? I could use the inspiration and encouragement!)

Should I go by word count? Say, anything over 50 words needs to be addressed in an article. And then, just leave a link to the carticle (comment/article) in the comment section? So it would be a two-fer! You’d be responding PLUS publishing your next article PLUS drawing attention to the original writer’s article. Sounds like a win/win to me. Or would that be win/win/win?

Needing some real input here, guys. It’s happening a lot lately.

Or maybe I should just keep my comments to myself. Maybe I’m just talking too much.

Could be.
