When you decide to attack
A poem about abusive relationships
I’ve waited forever For you to crawl out of your lair, Now you say I’m holding you up The way I act isn’t fair.
It’s time to move on But you can’t go on your own, How could you be free? With no one waiting at home.
Let me think this one through Where will I be at what time, Where the Hell am I now Then you cut off the line.
Who do I think I am You might come home in the morning, But you’re not talking to me So there was never a warning.
I could behave just like you And we’d be through in a day, Decimate half a lifetime But I want you to stay.
All my reasons are stupid And my actions are lame, But your reasons are perfect Though the acts are the same.
You’re selecting reactions My last straw broke your back At least I’m the attraction When you decide to attack.
