When Will Your Life Return To Normal?

Things you can do to stay positive before returning to normalcy

For many people, work-life and everyday activities are still not where they used to be. The economy is slowly reopening, but many jobs are not. Are you impatiently waiting when your life will return to normal? If you are not back on track yet and feel lost, please know that you are not alone, and chances are someone is in the same situation as you and going through similar experiences.

I am one of the people whose life has not yet returned to normalcy.

Before the pandemic hit, besides my usual online freelancing work, I also worked in a church as a piano accompanist. Well, to my regret, the church where I used to play, although starting to return to normal and resuming congregational services, is far from where it was before. A lot of changes have taken place, and there is no way of knowing when I will be called back. As of now, I’m dependent on my luck with freelancing work for my income.

Facing a new reality can be discouraging. However, I realized instead of burying your head in the ground, stick it up, and look at a situation from a different perspective.

Here are some tips to keep you on the positive side:

Invest more time into something you like

It could be your passion, a skill, or even a new hobby you’ve acquired since the pandemic started.

Since the lockdown measures have been placed, I’ve been putting in a lot of effort into writing. Now that I have a lot of free time on my hands, writing has become my “new” normal. Thanks to Medium, I discovered my new passion for writing. It is one of my creative outlets through which I express myself. It helps to fill in that empty void in my heart, and I feel so grateful for it. It also gives me a chance to be deeply connected with my thoughts. It nurtures my creativity. I now feel some sense of purpose in life.

Since I started writing, I’ve been looking at life through a different lens. I find that I am more at peace with myself and more balanced on a spiritual level.

If you are like me and your passion is writing, my advice to you is to write as much as you can.

Read in your spare time

It is without a doubt, the more you read, the more you will know and grow. Knowledge is power. Also, by reading more you’ll be able to improve your writing as reading and writing are intertwined. I noticed from my experience since I started reading articles on Medium for about a month that my writing skills have improved.

Offer someone a helping hand

Helping someone unconditionally, with a purity of heart and soul can help your peace of mind. I know from my experience that when you help someone with something, big or small, it makes you feel great inside. That is a fantastic feeling! You can help people by sharing your insights with them, help them learn a new skill, or hone an existing one. For example, I helped my family with gardening this season. If you help someone today, one day they will return the favor to you.

Spend more time with your family and loved ones

Use the spare time and spend as much time as possible with your family and loved ones. Doing so will help strengthen the bond between you and them and cherish the moments you shared.

If you are stuck and don’t know the direction your life is heading, follow these simple tips, and you’ll see that immediately you start feeling more positive in life.
