Summarize

When We Laugh at Ourselves

We can also celebrate our downfalls

For a change try not to have the joke on others but on you

Turn the humor lights on you Take away the sentimentalities and be dispassionate

Look out for the flaws from the fitting of the factory

Be ready to do nothing but to see the humor in it and allow yourself to be tickled

But don’t bother with the repair work, keep that for later and just enjoy the crack on the shell, the scratch of the glossy surface

It’s part of the plan to make you plain in some way so, you aspire to complete yourself to compensate for what’s not there to fill the holes drilled at the base

Think through your lacks where you fall short where you don’t measure up and don’t make the A, B, or C list where you don’t make the supplementary list or even that of also-rans where you won’t get an honorable mention where you are likely to be with some strain among 'others'

It could be physical or material, mental or emotional psychological or even psychical

No one has it all, all fall short The geniuses are all idiots in some fields None is complete, all are handicapped in some way

Still in doubt? Look around — make the list and tick the boxes height, weight color, looks strength, skills if you scored 💯% your list is rigged

Tear it up and make another Think Achilles: every bean with a dark spot some soft underbelly

Accept life to live, live fully — have a good laugh

Smile about it, at your own expense; the joke is on you — can’t you see?

We all have fluff and starch, some substance not all essence

There’s some lack, some loss some dross and content That’s the balance, and the beauty of this existence

So when it overwhelms, when the chips don’t fall where you want, take that chill pill

Pull a few steps back to survey the scene to see how ridiculous you look,

falling off your elevated perch your headgear in the dust your limbs disarranged like an octopus on a slippery dancefloor,

some cheap heap of overused rags abandoned for waste collectors to find and dispose as they may deem fit after the sorting

If you were full and complete and perfect you’d have left here a long long time ago distilled for finer realms

“When it comes to self-worth, laughter is not just about fresh perspective; it is also about liberation. When we laugh at ourselves, we do more than just see those burdens of expectation that have often weighed us down for years. In a moment of hilarity, we can also free ourselves from those burdens.” ― John Niland
