When things get stressful,

Play it LOUD!(30-day April Challenge #29)

Apparently, Unsplash isn’t permitting photo uploads today so you get an up close and personal of Twilight in the rain. It is what it is. (Author’s photo)

All things considered, I’ve been doing okay. No, true, for the most part, I’ve been holding it together pretty well. But I have to admit I’m getting a bit worn out and I could really use a day off doing, preferably, next to nothing at all.

Seeing as that’s not currently on the cards, on account of the bad weather hasn’t arrived yet, I’m making do with the next best thing and the next best thing is always going to be. . . turning up the volume. Fortunately for me, there have been some mega-hot new releases recently and I’ve had every opportunity to rattle the windows. (Also fortunately for me, I don’t have neighbors, my brother’s as good as deaf, and the dogs don’t really give a shit. It’s all gud!)

With my brain still in scrambled mode and the ability to put together more than two coherent sentences in a row under serious question, I’m afraid you hereby get to share the loud sounds. You down? Tough shit if you’re not ‘cos here they come!

Seventeen; Super (aka Sonongong)

Seventeen, the mega-kings of choreography, have outdone themselves with this one. I mean, they didn’t even bother with a cinematic MV, they went straight to performance because, well, why wouldn’t they? Nothing, and I mean NOTHING is lacking in this. I watched part of this in slo-mo as part of a reaction video and, holy shit storm, there’s not so much as a single freaking hair out of synch! There’s all sorts of back-story to this, involving Journey to the West and DragonBall but I’m not going to get into that here. If you get the references, good for you, and bonus. If not, it doesn’t change a thing. It’s simply too damn short and needs to be played loud and on a loop.

Seventeen: Super (Dance Practice)

This didn’t fit in a regular dance studio: it needed a full gym! And seeing it in one take gives you some idea of the sheer scope of the choreography and performance, keeping in mind this is only ONE small part of their incredible performance and training schedule.

I am such a stupidly HUGE Seventeen fan!

iKON: Tantara

iKON simply have the capacity to put me in a get-your-freak-on kind of mood. I mean, how can you not?

Nuff said.

Xikers: Tricky House

This is a bloody DEBUT! (For you K-pop novices out there, that means this is a first-time official release for a rookie group!) Xikers are a younger brother group to Ateez under KQ Entertainment, and we ought to know how much I love Ateez, and their little brothers are no disappointment. This is a killer debut with super production value on all counts. I gotta give credit to the solitary adult in this video and the shit the Xikers goblins put him through. And, yes, you read that right. Goblins. Xikers group mythology centers around the goblins of Korean myth, a commonly occurring theme in K-pop.

But don’t worry too much about that. Just kick it!

Xdinary Heroes: Freakin’ Bad

Hell, yes they are! Can these boys play or what? I was so looking forward to another comeback from these guys and here they are and they did not disappoint! I would love to see them live (and I really don’t do concerts) because they have so much wild energy and character and sheer vibrant attitude. Bands may not be common in K-pop but these kids are killing it.

Kim Woo Seok: Dawn

Lounging by the fire, red wine, chocolate and. . . Kim Woo Seok. My evening is complete.

One more day of social overload to go and I can take it easy for a bit. The end of the month can’t come soon enough but at least I’ve been able to ease the stress with some deep-breathing K-pop meditation.

To all of you fabulous writers out there,

Kia kaha and aroha nui. 💞

Fighting! 👊
