When the Sky Burst Into a Myriad of Colors
A sunset to remember

Hues of yellow, orange and red were bursting across the sky. Behind me, a murder of crows was chattering in the forest. And I just stood there. In awe.
I decided to wait on my walk until late that evening as I wanted to capture the setting sun. I didn’t know what I was in for. There were no clouds in the sky all day long and I certainly had no idea what to expect.
Before I even got far, I watched the moon rising behind the woods on the horizon. Not full yet but offering a large part of its round ball, the moon was my first object of choice.

While I was walking along the edge of the forest, I was listening to all the songbirds chirping in the trees. Their enchanting melodies reached my ears but their bodies didn’t appear in front of my eyes. I struggled to spot these tiny birds in the thick forest.

When I took the turn following the edge of the forest facing the setting sun, I heard some birds at the top and then saw the blue tit sitting on a branch of a pine tree. He was far up taking in the last rays of sunshine.
Just a bit to the left was another bird making some noise. Singing a beautiful melody, I had no idea what was sitting in between the leaves of this tree but my mom suspected it was a wood warbler.

Many birds of prey were circling above the woods and sitting in the pine trees at the edge of the forest. I couldn’t locate them to be able to point my camera at their bodies but startled a buzzard and caught him in flight.
He was taking off toward the setting sun disappearing in the shining ball on the horizon.

The sun was still bright and warm even though it was already late in the year. The farmers were still active plowing the fields driving up and down throwing lots of dust into the air.

I walked along the edge of the forest as the sun was nearing the horizon. I stopped and clicked. And clicked. And clicked.
Then I just stood there. In awe. I stood there in awe of and with the setting sun painting the sky in a myriad of colors. Hues of yellow, orange and red were bursting across the sky.

Behind me, a murder of crows was chattering in the forest. They were certainly complaining about something.
A layer of clouds was rising in the west. Right there, where the magic was happening. I turned back my attention to the sun melting in front of my eyes. A few more minutes and the glowing ball disappeared behind the horizon.

It was a moment to remember.

I closed my eyes to take in this moment with all its glory.

The sky was just too pretty for me to look away. There was no rush to get anywhere or do anything. So I just stood there. For long.

The sun was gone but the festival of colors lasted for another hour on the evening sky.
