When the Deer Jumped Out of the Tall Grass

We were walking across the fields talking about this and that. It wasn’t a particularly beautiful day, but it wasn’t raining either.

Most of the fields had been harvested already and only a few patches with taller grass or deliberately planted fields of wildflowers were still left.

And just as we were approaching one of those wild fields, a rustling sound appeared and three deer jumped up and onto the farm road just meters from us.

Startled from us, they quickly launched and ran in all directions.

David had gotten such a fright, he almost hit me with his walking stick as he intended to protect us from whatever animal was charging us.

I reached for my camera and got the back of the animal. A deer fleeing into the distance. No danger for us.
