PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE
When the Birds Are Singing Above the Lampions in the Trailer Park
Week 154 of the photographic documentary of my daily life
I’ve been listening to these birds every morning. Sitting either on top of our trailer or in the bushes out front of the window, they sing lovely melodies. While I’d be able to spot them, they would usually fly off before I could point my lens at them. But this week I was prepared and stayed hidden.
A few weeks ago, one of our friends also staying in the trailer park bought a couple of fairy lights with lampions covering them. Hanging them between the trailers, they don’t just give us some light when walking around in the darkness but they look nice as well.

A certain species of birds seemed to love hanging out on our trailer between the roof and the cover on top. We would hear it running on the trailer and of course singing.
I sneaked out and spooked him but he escaped onto our neighbor’s trailer when I quickly pointed the camera, focused in and pressed the shutter. I lifted my eyes from the camera and the bird was gone.
But I got him.
Sending the picture to my mom, I was told it's a black redstart. A male one.
"It is a widespread breeder in south and central Europe and Asia and north-west Africa, from Great Britain and Ireland (where local) south to Morocco, east to central China. It is resident in the milder parts of its range, but north-eastern birds migrate to winter in southern and western Europe and Asia, and north Africa. It nests in crevices or holes in buildings." - Wikipedia

Saturday was a busy day and I didn't take any pictures but the ones for work. I always film and take pictures of the take-off and when the sun is right I can get a nice shadow of our plane. Here just above the crop field.

Sunday was another working day for us and despite predictions not in our favor due to big clouds we managed to jump in between showers. The big thunderclouds only rolled in after work when we could watch the rain in the distance.

Monday is our weekend.
I took out my hammock, walked to the edge of the forest and found a great spot between two trees. Relaxing in the shade, I was reading and writing when something all of a sudden took me out of relaxation.
I didn’t see the animal when it passed just a few meters next to me but lifted my head once I heard the noise. I was almost sure it must have been a deer but was thinking what if it were some wild boar? Then I wasn’t safe.
Lying in the hammock, I spied in between bushes and saw the deer not far from me. It soon turned around, jumped out of the thicket and appeared back on the forest trail next to me escaping to where it came from.

On Tuesday, I started giving a ground school teaching five students of five different nationalities how to skydive. Yes, once a year we are hosting an English course and since David and I are the strongest in English, we were the main instructors.
After a full day teaching and answering countless questions, I am always so drained. Mentally. Heading back to the trailer it was getting dark already. I just stopped to take a picture of the lampions in the last light.

While finished training our students, we didn’t get them in the air on Wednesday as we had too many clouds and strong winds. But tomorrow is another day.
And here's a panoramic view of the evening light shot from our trailer park with some rain in the distance.
