When the Arch Shines Bright and Colorful Above the Rain-Heavy Mountains

January Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Fun”

Watching seagulls feed under the rainbow.

I woke up that morning with the silent sound of soft drops falling from the trees. It hadn’t rained as much that night as we expected, but the mountains on the far side of the lake were covered in heavy clouds like the night before.

After crawling out of the tent and walking down the few steps to the beach I was left speechless and in awe. A colorful rainbow was stretching across the mountains shining bright across the lake.

After admiring the beauty for a few minutes, I turned back, prepared a cup of tea and a bowl of porridge and sat back down on the sand with my breakfast. The rainbow was still there.

The seagulls on the lake seemed unimpressed by the colorful spectacle above their head, yet I took it all in.

It had been an amazing trip but this morning ended up being the icing of the cake. The rainbow diminished and reappeared for another hour and I just sat there in silence.
