When Temptation Beckons

In the heart of Vegas, ‘neath neon lights so bright, Cards in hand, friends nearby, chasing the thrill of the night. Met a temptation named Fever, at the blackjack spree, On a winning streak, in a trance, my fortune set free.
Friends lured by Circus, said, “Come, join the fun!” But Fever whispered, “Stay, let the game be won.” Against their advice, I chose to remain, In the gamble’s grip, chasing elusive gain.
“Are you sure?” my friends questioned, worry in their eyes, And Fever chuckled, “Why not? Don’t listen to their cries.” As they departed, my winnings soared high, Yet, little did I know, the cost was nigh.
Fever, my companion, led me astray, In the blink of an eye, my fortune swept away. “Visit the ATM,” Fever urged with a grin, “How much?” I asked, uncertain within.
“The maximum,” Fever replied, a dangerous suggestion, “Are you sure?” I hesitated, sensing the deception. “Live a little,” Fever whispered, a tempting decree, In that moment, the allure overcame me.
The ATM whirred, as it dispensed my demise, Lost in the game, blinded by the lies. Counting my losses, a painful endeavor, I realized, alas, Fever was not my friend, but a deceiver.
So, in the neon glow of lessons learned, I part ways with Fever, the tables turned. Regret may linger, but wisdom gained, In the dance with temptation, a lesson retained.
For in the city of lights, where fortunes rise and fall, I’ll embrace the dawn, rise above it all. A chapter closed, a wiser heart to mend, In the vibrant chaos of Vegas, a story with no end.
