When Sadness Paid A Visit
a poem
late last evening sadness paid a visit
she crawled into bed with me curled herself around my body the weight of her head heavy upon my chest so I held her hand through her lamenting and moaning her wailing and groaning
though her heaving and shaking her quivering and quaking
until she emptied herself of her pain and her tears her sorrow and fears
tired and drained weary and bleary she quietly departed
leaving me worn out and spent yet braver and stronger
and learning to tend and bend to care and prepare for the time when she visits me again
