When Love and Kindness Are Present
Spreading the beauty of our shared humanity.

Be a rainbow in someone’s cloud. ~ Maya Angelou, Compassionate Being, Civil Rights Activist, Poet & Author
Something beautiful happened at the start of my day today.
But wait, now that I just typed the above sentence I realized— every day that I awake to my breath, to my health, and in my wondrous ancestral motherland is in itself a beautiful thing.
At my Gmail inbox, I caught a notification of being mentioned in a story of one of my favorite Medium authors. She wrote about protecting Mother Earth and how in doing so, we can also nurture each other.
Reading through it reminded me of the most recent article I posted to Newsbreak ~ The Science of Kindness. My article quotes Cedars-Sinai about how sharing kindness [and love] is more than just a fuzzy, warm feeling.
The warm feeling of well-being that washes over you when you’ve done something kind isn’t just in your head. It’s in your brain chemicals, too.
Wanting to spread positive vibes — and because I’ve received a few negative comments on Newsbreak — I posted to the platform and noticed my story has 15 shares. I’m excited to see this.

So, when I caught Dr. Gabriella Korosi’s post on a similar subject, a smile crossed my lips and I thought — there is something going on here.
I do not believe in coincidences. In my mind, things don’t just happen. I believe our choices, words, and actions impact others and the world around us. These set other things and changes in motion — a chain reaction of sorts.
There is already so much negativity in life. Why add more to it?
In our shared humanity there is grandeur. By focusing on bringing more love, kindness, and light to our communities, we are contributing to a healthier planet.
As our beloved poet, Maya Angelou reminds us —bringing vibrant color and smiles to the lives of those who may be experiencing nothing but grey and sadness is something within reach for many of us.
Because I still believe in rainbows, I’d like to share what gave me a smile (see below).
