When I Hear Melbourne, I Don’t Think of Australia
Check out this great place for a mini-break

Sorry to my Aussie friends, but when I hear the name Melbourne, I don’t think of Australia, I think of Florida — the smallish beach town on the east coast of Florida with a population of less than 100,000. This quaint town is located on the Atlantic Ocean a little over an hour from Orlando and about 40 minutes due south from Port Canaveral.

From what I’ve seen, both offer great beaches… although since I’ve been to Melbourne, Florida but not Melbourne, Australia, my experience is admittedly lopsided.
Highlights of Melbourne… the one in Florida
I do love visiting this area. It’s beautiful and not as crowded as some other beach towns, like Daytona or West Palm.
Satellite Beach
A beautiful beach to visit near Melbourne. I just happened to luck out and visit at a time when there were few other people around. Love that!

Food
I enjoyed eating some delicious pizza at Napoli Pizza N Pasta, and it's very budget friendly.

Bones anyone?
Many ancient bones from a variety of animals — fish, birds, reptiles — and even humans have been found in the Melbourne area. Fossils of mammoths were found at the local golf course. Fun.
