When Darkness Persists
Inspiration settles in the lonely corners

When darkness persists, close your eyes. Why?
To ease into the unknown, the blank, the lonely corners. What if something bad happens?
No thinking. Clutch them tight. No peeking. No sneaking. Why no peeking?
Trust in your soul as it knows the darkness does not harm. Are you sure?
Once you are at home in the blankness, you will breathe steadily. Listen. To what?
Your heart beating. Inspiration settles in the darkness. It does?
Open your eyes. Grasp inspiration. It’s fragile. Don’t let it go. I’m scared.
Don’t think. I need to know what to do.
It’s like a butterfly crawling out of the cocoon. Let it rest on your hand. I can’t hold on to it. It won’t stay with me.
Study the colors, the shapes, the sound the wings make as it takes off. I want to fly.
You can. I can?
Inhale inspiration. Write. Sing. Dance. Say it out loud for all of us to enjoy. I will.
