Summary

The web content reflects on the metaphorical "field between us" as a safe and brave space for genuine human connection and expression, emphasizing the importance of creating environments where individuals can be true to themselves and speak up against societal norms.

Abstract

The article "When Can I Meet You in the Field Between Us?" uses the imagery of a lush field to symbolize an ideal space for human interaction and introspection. It describes the field as a biodiverse, emotionally resonant, and non-polluting area where people can connect on a deeper level, free from ridicule and judgment. The field represents both a personal sanctuary and a communal gathering place where authenticity and bravery are encouraged, and where the collective can challenge the notion of what is considered 'normal' in society. The author, Desiree Driesenaar, invites readers to join her in this space to foster a sense of belonging and to inspire change towards a more abundant and healthy way of living, as echoed by the wisdom of Rumi's poetry.

When Can I Meet You in the Field Between Us?

The grass is so lush out there

The field is ether solidified So lush, so brave, so true

The field is among us where we can’t see us where we can feel us and bounce bounce bounce

The field is biodiverse grass soft and belonging giving us a mattress to be brave and speak up

The field is emotion consciously expressed non-polluting energizing for all and all to see

The field grows and expands with every word spoken and every laugh laughed

The field is us.

Just us.

Brave Space

The field is a brave space where we can be ourselves without being ridiculed. The field is the universal space that emerges when we are alone in nature. Breathing deeply and listening to the birdsong. It also emerges when we are with others in conversation.

We can create this field for ourselves and for others. To feel we belong (a human need) AND be brave enough to speak up against the current of ‘ normal’. Many things that seem normal in our world right now are not normal at all! We need to speak up. For ourselves and for others. For the collective. And change the toxic triggers of today into healthy triggers.

“There’s a field somewhere beyond all doubt and wrong doing. I’ll meet you there.”
