When Anxiety Visits

Free verse

Poofs of dread sometimes sow their threads inside of my head so that it’s hard to tell where it all begins or just where it all ends

Sometimes the stitch is sown skin deep so tight that a mend snaps back but other times the stitch dissolves and f a l l s and solves itself into quiet resolve

But on these days the thread tethers all of the ends to spin a fierce hazy web that gets lost in my hair piercing any semblance of sense or reason because something inside of me must have committed treason

Until I stop to pick off the burrs that have attached to the web by breathing breath of full breaths through this curse as it all untangles to float and fly onwards like a free falling feather made of leather.
