Summary

The web content emphasizes that life's value is not determined by material possessions or social status but by the choices one makes, such as showing love, avoiding jealousy, and building genuine connections.

Abstract

The article "What’s Your Score?" by Geetika Sethi, published on Medium, is a reflective piece that challenges societal norms of success and happiness. It posits that the true essence of life lies beyond the superficial measures of wealth, popularity, or physical attributes. Instead, it is found in the intangible aspects of our existence, such as the capacity for love, the ability to overcome ignorance, and the pursuit of trust and compassion. The poem encourages readers to evaluate their "Life's Score" based on their actions and intentions, rather than external validations. It advocates for a life lived with authenticity, where the focus is on meaningful relationships and personal growth rather than accumulating scores in a conventional sense.

What’s Your Score?

Do you know that it’s only your choices in life that make your score?

Kyle Glenn Unsplash

Life isn’t just about keeping score.

It’s not about how many people call you,

it’s not about who you’ve dated or haven’t dated at all,

What sport you play,

Or

which guy or girl likes you.

It’s not about your shoes or your hair

Or

the color of your skin,

Or

where you live or go to school,

In fact, it’s not about grades, money, clothes, or colleges.

Life isn’t about if you have lots of friends or if you are alone,

and it’s not about how accepted

or

unaccepted you are.

Life isn’t about that!

But life is about

who you love and who you hurt.

It’s about how you feel about yourself.

It’s about trust, happiness, and compassion.

It’s about avoiding jealousy, overcoming ignorance, and building confidence.

It’s about what you say and what you mean.

It’s about seeing people for who they are and not for what they have.

Most of all it is choosing to use your life in a way that could have never been achieved otherwise.

These choices are what life’s about

and these make your Life’s Score!
