What’s Your Reason?
A poem about objectification

What’s your reason?
Why do you want to be in a relationship so bad?
Is it because you truly want to start looking for a best friend? Or do you just want to impress all your friends, and earn a sense of self-validation because you see as your trophy?
When I asked you that question, why did you push me away? Why couldn’t you give me a straight answer? I get that it’s a question that needs time to answer properly, but why punish me for your indecisiveness?
Look, I’ll be honest with you.
I want to be with you, and that hasn’t changed, but just please think about it.
If the answer is the latter, that’s fine, but just let me know.
Don’t waste my time, because I’m not your trophy to hold up and objectify.
