MUSIC, PROMPT
What’s Your Go-To Dance Song?
Another Songstories Prompt
This photo may or may not have been taken while driving… // Author’s photo
Whenever I take a road trip, there are few CDs I must bring along. (Yes, I still have a CD player in my car that I actually use.)
I have several favorite CDs; ones where I know the words to every song — or at least I pretend to — and sing along with passion and gusto. It’s a great way to pass the time.
One of my all-time favorites is Earth, Wind & Fire’s Greatest Hits CD.
Okay, okay. I know all you music purists out there are thumbing your noses at me and my greatest hits CD. I can hear you now. “That’s not the way the musicians intended their album to be heard!” To which I say, I don’t care. I love it anyway.
That, and I’m not that pure.
Anyway, I was listening to this CD on a road trip this past weekend. And when one song in particular came on, I couldn’t sit still. As I drove along the highway, I boogied as much as possible while staying seated and keeping my car in the lane.
The song? “Serpentine Fire”.
Oh, those voices. Those horns. That beat. That cowbell. That is a cowbell, right?!
Take a listen and see if it “ignites your energy” as much as it does mine. Betcha can’t stay seated. Oh yeah.
This all got me thinking. What’s your go-to dance song? What tune makes you want to get up and shake your groove thang?
Please share in the comments or write a post. Let’s get relational and dance. Or if you’re feeling a bit wallflowerish, share your favorite road trip song or album.
