What’s The Difference Between Your True Personality And Your Persona?
Learn why it’s important to define your true personality and separate it from your social mask.

We all have a social mask according to which we appear to be polite, patient, fair, honest, friendly, etc. Carl Jung called this mask the ‘persona’.
We find it natural to hide our true desires and thoughts in many situations, especially when we talk to our boss or another important person we depend on.
Sometimes we think it’s better to pretend we like something we dislike to avoid offending or hurting someone else, or simply because we want to be accepted by our social group since everyone likes what we dislike and we don’t want to be considered old-fashioned or condemned.
The persona seems to be indispensable in a hypocritical world where we fear each other and where we always want to make a good impression on those watching us. However, the more different a person’s true personality is from their social mask, the more unbalanced they are.
Ideally, we shouldn’t need to wear a mask to show society that we are admirable, but be honest.
However, sincerity seems to be impossible in our world. Falsehood is an unwritten rule respected by everyone in numerous situations.
Most people are so false they can’t even remember what their real personality is.

Nobody is bothered by the need to hide who they really are. Often they understand that others are false as well, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem. Everyone justifies their falsehood in a variety of ways and shows understanding when they realize that others are pretending too, even when they suspect of their intentions.
General falsehood seems to be normal and sincerity seems to be stupid. Everyone thinks they must hide what they think to avoid shocking others, and everyone condemns those who are brutally sincere because they think these people are impolite and foolish.
Many believe that sincere people would be better off hiding their dissatisfaction to avoid conflict and avoid being attacked by their enemies.
Hardly anyone understands the importance of being different and holding views that oppose the wrong mindset of most people, except rare heroes.
Those who do not agree with the majority are generally considered mad, although in fact those who consider them mad are the ones who behave absurdly because they agree with what is imposed by the hypocritical and immoral society, and with what is imposed by the commercial world.
If your social mask is very different from your true personality and if you agree with the general opinion without analyzing what you stand for, this means that your sanity is in danger and that you may make many mistakes that you will regret in the future.
So don’t be indifferent to how you behave and try to be honest. Don’t try to please everyone because that’s impossible and because you will be smarter if you will defend your point of view instead of agreeing with the general falsehood.
