What’s the Definition of Crazy? The Republican Party

I must be behind the times. When did it become necessary for someone to be crazy as a loon in order to run for congress or any other political office? I missed when that change was made. I suppose it might have been a gradual change and because I wasn’t paying attention, I missed it.

I had thought that the Orange Pumpkin was about as crazy as we could muster in political circles. But then I heard Marge run her mouth about even crazier ideas. But it isn’t just the Q nuts that are crazy. They are crazy simply because of the reality they think they live in. But we also have other crazies as well. We have the Abbot fellow down in Texas. How crazy do you have to be to close the border to international trade in order to prove that there is a crisis at the border? There is no crisis at the border unless the border is populated by Republican-do-nothings.

Think for a moment. I mean actually use that space between your ears as something more than a hat rack. We have to have immigrants in order to maintain the economy. Really. We do not have enough of a native population to sustain our current rate of domestic production⁵. So it only makes good sense to have an immigration policy which provides a pathway to citizenship. But do the crazies in the Republican Party address this? Oh heavens no. They’re too busy owning the libs. Isn’t that crazy behavior?

Then we have the governor of Florida who is fighting with Mickey Mouse and friends about free speech⁴. How in the name of Sam Hill can that not be crazy to the nth degree? And what about Justice Alito citing Sir Mathew Hale as a source for banning abortions³? Sir Mathew had women executed for witchcraft and defended marital rape¹. And this is the party of “family values?” I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to adopt Mrs. Reagan’s mantra of “just say no”. I don’t know what these Republicans are smoking but it ain’t good for their thinking apparatus.

Have you heard any of the interviews of ardent Trumpettes and or QAnoners? They talk about truly crazy things. That Joe Biden is a double. That the Orange Guy is really the president. That JFK is really the Vice President and then some of the crap they talk about is really crazy. The craziest part of all of this is that otherwise intelligent people are being sucked into these nonsensical musings of mentally disturbed individuals.

The world has not seen this level of crazy since Galileo was placed under house arrest for stating the heresy that the earth was not the center of the universe. But please remember that the inquisition burned women at the stake and drowned them to prove they were witches. Worse than that the inquisition also murdered people who did not conform to the Catholic alternate reality of the day.

Today the Republican inquisition’s alternate reality begins with Donny having won the last election. How crazy does a man have to be to say that foolishness out loud and in front of God and everyone? I don’t think I need that kind of derangement representing me in congress. I don’t think I need that kind of derangement functioning even as a dog catcher. Yet Hershel Walker is running for the US senate with the XLV’s full-throated support². This is the same Hershel Walker who claimed to have a dry process to suck Covid out of your body. That’s crazy. Really crazy and the Orange guy is recommending that Georgians send this clown to the US senate? That’s even crazier.

Then there’s this business about the Deep State. WTF? Every recent president except The Godfather of Mar Lago has been in the Deep State cabal? If it were not for the fact that people are subscribing to this idiocy it would be hilarious. But it isn’t funny. It is crazy though. When does a president have time to attend the meeting of the cabal and to kidnap kids to sacrifice them for their blood? That whole idea is crazy. It’s even crazier that there are people who believe that craziness who are running for all manner of political office.

Make no mistake here. The crazies I’m talking about form the famed base the Republican Party is so eager to appease. They’re the famous Trump base. Don’t get me wrong here, I’m all for people believing anything their little old heart desires, but there is such a thing as reality. And, you know what? Reality doesn’t care what you believe about it. It does as it damn well pleases. Remember Galileo? Reality didn’t care what the Catholic Church believed about it. The earth was not the center of anything other than a home for crazies.

As a kid growing up on a family farm I remember seeing people with no farming experience coming to visit. They always wanted to be part of what we were doing, but were rarely prepared for the reality of farm life. They were never prepared for the amount of manure a cow produced, for example, nor the lack of decorum cows practice in depositing manure in the reality. They were never prepared to traverse manure covered byways. They were not prepared to maintain milking areas after cows had spent hours in that area depositing manure and having milk taken from them. To me as a farm kid those folks from non-farm realities were something of an entertainment value for their profound ignorance. But cows didn’t care what those folks thought. Cows went about in the reality in which they lived anyway. They made milk and converted hay and water into prodigious amounts of manure which was a part of living on a farm where cows also lived.

I think I’d like the Marges and the Matts and the Lorens and the Alitos and the Don, both Sr and Jr and the Rand Pauls and the Ronnies and the Abbots and the Teds and the Joshes and all the rest of the republican nut cases to spend a year or so living around cows. I’d feel bad for the cows, but it could be that those folks would learn some common sense. They might even learn to live in a reality which matches the universe, instead of a made up reality that doesn’t exist anywhere but in their minds.

Isn’t that the definition of crazy? Living in fantasy as opposed to living in reality? We don’t even allow children to live in pretend realities because it’s dangerous for them. How much more dangerous is it for adults to live in pretend reality? Does anyone really believe that Vlad’s pretend reality of bringing back the glory of the tzars is safe for Ukraine or even for Russia? Then how can the Orange Pumpkin’s pretend reality of retro winning the last election be safe for anyone? If Justice Thomas wants to suck it up and deal with reality then maybe we should all suck it up and deal with the reality of a woman’s right to choose and do all the other things that a free person does in the pursuit of life liberty and happiness. I think that denying those rights is not only un-American, it’s also unconstitutional. I don’t care if Justice Alito thinks that Sir Mathew knew anything about the constitution or not. The constitution is real and it doesn’t care what Justice Alito opines.
