BOOST CONTENT WITH SEO

What's good about a Kicker?

Trying out the Effect of Kicker in Google!

Not many people who write here on Medium utilize the opportunity to add a kicker to their article. I didn’t either.

What is a kicker, anyway? It’s an ultra-short, very precise “extra” title, which should only consist of one or very few words, and which describes the content of the article very precisely, so the reader gets even more inclined to read the article.

But does the kicker have any function besides being a taste, a test or abait? I made an attempt: my research question therefore became:

“What happens if I make a short relevant kicker and see how, for example, Google finds it?”

I wrote an article and made a kicker. Published it and waited a day. Then went to Google and entered my kicker as a keyword.

My article came out as number 4 in the search list!!

In just one day, it has had the significance that there has been 40% traffic on the article directly from Medium and a whole 60% from elsewhere!

One should know that Google “reads” the article from the very beginning. If you have a relevant keyword in the kicker, it’s the very first thing Google reads.

You’ve certainly read about SEO optimization. Some are almost sick of hearing this term, but in the IT world we live in, it’s often necessary to deal with it. The more accurately you can tell Google your keywords for your article, the better it will be found when people search on Google, and you have given just these sought-after words into your article.

For example, right now as I’m writing this article, there are about 100 people per minute in the USA searching for “writing on medium”.

There’s a huge potential in finding the right keywords, and you can get an idea of this on Google Trends.

You can also choose the easy solution and ask ChatGPT for help. Ask ChatGPT to come up with, for example, 10 suggestions for SEO-optimized keywords for your text and then copy it into ChatGPT, and it will immediately spit them out.

But be critical about the chat’s response. You can think for yourself and search further on Google Trends if it fits.

I made the attempt with this article, and ChatGPT came up with 10 suggestions for optimized kicker containing words like “Content, SEO, Optimize, Boost, Power, Crafting, Leverage, Conversion, Elevate.” Now I can write my short kicker based on these, as I’m trying to do here: “BOOST CONTENT WITH SEO.”

Here is an article about the development of kickers, how it's done practically. Just take a look! The content of your coming kicker is up to you!
