What your eyes don’t see

It’s not always as it looks.

To anyone out there who thinks they are falling behind, I am here to let you know that you may be overthinking it.

First of all, I’d like to know what your metric is. What are you using to measure your “falling behind”? Is the metric someone who’s your age and probably doing so much better than you in terms of wealth?

Or is it the fact that your neighbor seems to have the perfect family and you don’t have any kids yet?

If your metrics look anything like these, you’re safe.

You’re probably thinking. . .

“ What??”

But you read that right. And why is that, you ask?

Well that’s because you are using a completely different scale for your graph. You need to use your own scale otherwise you’re answering the wrong question.

You’re safe because there is still time and the opportunity to make it right my using your required scale.

That’s the solution — be your very own metric.

Are you better that you were 5 years, 3 years, a year ago or even yesterday? Are you more satisfied with certain areas of your life now? If you are, there has been some kind if progress which is a good thing.

That is what you should be after. Your own progress.

Everyone has a mission or a purpose of their own. We are all not the same and that’s proof that our lives should not be the same either. Also, just because you don’t see the struggles of most people you categorize as the “have-it-alls” does not mean they are not having hard times of their own.

What’s quite funny is that what they may be struggling with is not something you are challenged with at all.

Everyone gets these challenges because it’s life. Life is supposed to hurl challenges your way no matter what. However, what makes you stand out from the lot is the ability to get back up after a fall or a disappointment.

You’re resilient, which is worth admiring.

So appreciate your pace, note down your progress, and let that drive you.

Once you have discovered your purpose, you’ll be amazed by how much you can do.

Thank you so much for reading to the end.
