What Will Help You Control Your Time and Finances and Succeed in 2024 and Beyond?
The mindset and methodology to get what you want

The gyms are always packed in January; by mid-February, they are almost empty again. Our monkey brain tells us to do the same as others do.
But only those with a clear vision of their life will achieve their goals. And if you don’t have your goals, somebody else will assign them to you.
Do not put yourself in that situation: you can not fulfill life by pursuing somebody else's goals.
Most people do the same as everyone else and lead a mediocre life. If you want to succeed, do the opposite of the majority.
The economy has changed, and the society is shifting in different directions. The old world is dying, and we are at the forefront of these changes.
What an exciting time to be alive, but we fear the unknown.
Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.” Marie Curie
I will share what will help you take control of your time and finances and succeed next year and beyond.
Mindset is the key
Your mindset is everything. It sounds cliche, but it is true.
If you position yourself in the wrong wheel, no matter how hard you work, you will never achieve financial and time freedom.
In my previous jobs, I could work 24/7, every day, but I would never earn enough to have the lifestyle I wanted. Stay away from low-paid job employment careers. No matter how passionate you are.
Passion is overrated and misunderstood. You will lose your passion when you work around the clock and find it difficult to make ends meet. Period. I know because it happened to me.
Many people will take advantage of passionate people and offer work for “experience” or “exposure.” It happens in some creative industries like photography or fashion. But that is a form of modern exploitation.
When you start, you can work for free to gain experience. That is OK, but not when you have two decades of professional experience.
Even when you start a business, offer some free services to gain experience. It will help you to learn valuable skills, and you can exchange them for testimonials. And social proof will get you a long way.
Become a one-person empire
I meet so many skilled people who are looking for a job. And that puzzles me because we live in a permissionless economy.
You don’t have to ask anybody to hire you or to lick your boss's ass anymore to get a payment increase. Create your own job and career.
See yourself as a business entity.
That way, you will avoid becoming a commodity. Master your destiny, no longer at the mercy of others.
Get clarity
Most people live to meet societal expectations. For example, around Christmas, the shopping frenzy is in full swing. But even the fanciest gifts will never replace creating genuine relationships and experiences together.
Focus your energy and attention on creating meaningful life and relationships. And build your income sources around this idea. Not the other way around.
Starting an online business was never easier. Optionality is the best and the worst thing on the Internet.
You will never start your entrepreneurial journey without clarity. I used to spend a lot of time watching videos on YouTube.
Initially, it was like circling new models and ideas—the never-ending story of binge-watching.
You need time to research and spend the time you want, but you must decide on the next step at a certain point. Otherwise, you will procrastinate.
The festive season is the perfect opportunity to start your life transformation. Slowing down makes it easier to get clarity on what you really want from life.
Without clarity, you will never transform your life.
Set SMART goals
Goals are like a GPS for your life and work. They provide direction, motivation, and clarity to measure your progress. But, not all goals are created equal.
SMART goals are the beacon that guides you through the fog of daily tasks. I am sure that you heard of them, but let’s recap and break it down:
- Specific: Clearly define what you want to achieve.
- Measurable: Set up milestones to track your progress.
- Achievable: Aim high but stay within the realms of reality.
- Relevant: Your goals should align with your values and long-term objectives.
- Time-bound: Set a deadline to keep the momentum.
Let’s turn theory into action. Suppose you want to improve your writing skills. Here’s how you can shape it into a SMART goal:
Example Goal: “Enhance my writing skills.”
SMART Goal:
- Specific: Complete a professional online writing course.
- Measurable: Dedicate one hour each weekday.
- Achievebale: Submit two articles per week for publication.
- Relevant: Aim to receive at least three positive reviews.
- Time-bound: By the end of two months.
But if your goals do not scare you, they are usually not good enough. When I started writing on Medium, I decided to write and publish at least one article daily. And that allowed me to quit my job after three months.
A tip: Goal setting is a skill; like any skill, it improves with practice. Don’t be discouraged if your first attempts aren’t perfect.
Execute
Now that you have clarity and SMART goals, you have a plan for your journey.
Focus on your daily actions instead of the outcome. Success is never a straightforward line. There are many variables, and making money online is not a get-rich-quick scheme.
It requires time and dedication.
This is the blueprint for starting a successful a successful solopreneurship online:
- Concentrate on output, not the outcome. You can get discouraged if you can focus solely on your financial goals. Instead, focus on the activities you must do daily to achieve your goals.
- Work in 90-day cycles. 90 days is long enough to see if something is working. You can refine your daily actions that move you toward your goals. Sticking to 90-day cycles will help you with a shiny syndrome object affecting all solopreneurs.
- Measure valid metrics. Many people don’t progress because they focus on the wrong metrics. For example, your engagement will drop when you create typical business and marketing content. And that is OK — success is not a straight line.
- Say no to distractions. When you are focused, that will help you to optimize everything to align with your goals and say no to the wrong things. Stick only to your long-term goals and say no to everything else. Wealthy people never work for money; they only work for long-term goals.
Conclusion
The old world is dying, and we are at the front of these transformations. It has never been easier to achieve your dream lifestyle regardless of age, status, gender, or nationality. You can use the Internet and make money 24/7 all year round.
But at the same time, optionality can keep you away or slow down succeeding. These are the most critical steps on your road to becoming financially free and controlling your time:
- Your mindset is everything. If you position yourself at the mercy of others, you will become a victim. If you take responsibility for yourself, you will be responsible for life.
- Become a one-person empire. We live in a permissionless economy. See yourself as a business entity, and you will avoid becoming a commodity.
- Get clarity on what you really want in life. Stop living according to societal expectations. We put on masks and lie on daily to get through life. Stop participating in that insanity. You can be transparent and create a fantastic, meaningful life. But without clarity on what you want, you will never get there.
- Set SMART goals. Goals serve as a navigation system for your life and career. They give guidance, inspiration, and a simple way to track your progress. Write them down on paper, Notion, or Google Docs. Think big and adjust them as you progress.
- Execute. Your goals without action will never materialize. Focus on output and work in 90-day sprints to progress. Observe valid metrics and say no to distractions. More on the best blueprint framework for solopreneurs is here.
