10 Ways To Get Motivated — Even if You Don’t Want it
What to do when you don’t want to do anything.
Most of us have days when we don’t want to do anything. It can be hard to motivate yourself and get things done when this happens.
Motivation is one of those things that everyone wants, but few people know how to get it. It’s easy to get motivated; it’s just hard to do so consistently. The real challenge is not getting distracted from your goals, whatever they may be.
However, even on the worst of days, there are always ways that you can get motivated and start moving forward with your day! This article will share 10 different techniques for getting motivated again — no matter what mood you’re in!

Technique #01: Change Your Perspective
When you’re feeling unmotivated, it can be helpful to change your perspective and look at things differently. Instead of viewing your tasks as a burden, try to see them as opportunities to learn and grow.
It will be easier to get motivated and excited about what you’re doing when you approach everything with a positive mindset!
Technique #02: Set Smaller Goals
If you’re struggling to get motivated for a big project, try setting smaller goals instead. Breaking down your goal into smaller steps will make it seem less daunting, and it will be easier to stay focused and on track.
Once you’ve completed all of the smaller stages, you’ll be ready to move on and complete the larger project, too!
Technique #03: Set Achievable Goals
When you’re feeling unmotivated or discouraged, it can be easy to set unrealistic goals. To get motivated again, try setting achievable goals instead of lofty ones that are hard to accomplish.
If your goal is realistic and attainable from the start, you won’t have any trouble moving forward towards success — even when things seem a little tough!
Technique #04: Start With The Easiest Task First Thing In The Morning
If you find that motivation tends to disappear as soon as you sit down at work in the morning, try starting with an easier task first thing in the day instead.
This can help get your momentum going and make tackling the harder tasks later on easier. Plus, when you finish your easy task early in the day, you’ll have more time to relax or work on other projects!
Technique #05: Visualize Yourself Succeeding
When you’re feeling unmotivated, visualization can be a great way to get started. Picture yourself completing your goal easily — see yourself succeeding in everything you do.
When you take the time to visualize success, it will be easier for you to start moving towards that goal and achieve it in real life!
Technique #06: Write Down Your Achievements
If you’re having a time getting motivated, take some time to write down your achievements. This can help you take time to reflect on things that you’ve done in the past, which might give you a sense of confidence and pride.
It will be easier for you to get motivated again when this happens — even if times are tough!
Technique #07: Watch A Quick Video Or Podcast
One quick video or podcast can make the difference when all else fails. Watching educational videos or listening to podcasts is an easy way for you to feel better about yourself while improving your skills at the same time.
It doesn’t matter what kind of content motivates or inspires you — just watching something new will certainly get your day moving forward again.
Technique #08: Be Around People You Like
When you’re feeling unmotivated and unproductive, it can be helpful to change your environment. Instead of sitting at home alone all day, try going out and being around people that motivate and inspire you.
Spending time with these positive influences is a great way for you to get encouraged again — even on the worst days! Plus, if someone asks why you seem so happy lately or gives their opinion on something important…you now have an excellent response ready! :)
Technique #09: Play A Game Of Your Favorite Sport Or Activity
If there’s one thing that always makes me feel good about myself (and motivates me no matter what), it’s playing a game of my favorite sport or activity.
Whether you play tennis, go swimming, practise yoga…or even shoot some hoops outside — getting moving and being active can help boost your energy levels while motivating you for the rest of the day!
Technique #10: Get Some Rest
Last but not least, don’t forget to get some rest! It can be difficult to feel motivated when feeling run down and exhausted. To combat this issue, ensure that you’re getting enough sleep every night. This way, you’ll wake up feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day!
Motivation can be tough, especially when you’re feeling unmotivated or discouraged. The best way to get motivated again is by setting achievable goals instead of lofty ones that are hard to accomplish.
When your goal is realistic and attainable from the start, it won’t be difficult for you to move forward towards success — even when things seem a little tough!
Last words
You might find great value in some of these techniques for getting yourself moving again. Try starting with an easier task first thing in the morning. If motivation tends to disappear as soon as you sit down at work, visualize yourself succeeding so that it’s easy for you to start moving towards achieving your goal.
Writing down your achievements so that they don’t go unacknowledged; watching educational videos or listening to podcasts related to your work or passions; being around people that motivate and inspire you; playing a game of your favorite sport or activity; and finally, getting enough rest.
These techniques should help get you started again to continue moving towards success!
There are many different techniques for getting motivated — these are just a few of my personal favorites. What works best for me might not work best for you, so it’s important to find what makes you feel inspired and excited to move forward.
