What to Ask Yourself When You Feel Stuck
Because it happens to all of us.

It happens to all of us, that feeling of something being off, of something missing, of feeling lost. It could also be the case of having too many opportunities open, of not knowing which one to take.
It’s easy to lose a sense of ourselves when we have no real goal in front of us, when we don’t know the direction of where our lives are going.
Sometimes all we need to get unstuck is a thorough questioning of ourselves. This article will do exactly that. You only need some peace and quiet, and a pen and paper if you are more of a visual thinker.
Before you is a three-part set of personal questions that will hopefully help you with whatever you are currently going through. I’ve collected them over the years from various books, lectures, or just from talking with friends. Please answer them honestly and mindfully. Put all other factors aside (e.g. people’s opinions, your fears, limitations) and answer them for you only.
Take all the time you need — after all, it’s always the hardest looking inside ourselves.
Ok, ready?
Take a deep breath.
Let’s do this!
Step 1
First thing’s first — where exactly do you feel stuck?
Is it in your career area? Romance area? Physical environment? Your health area? Financial area? Or somewhere else? In which area do you need change the most?
Focus only on one area, the one where you would love change to happen first.
Easy one, right? Great.
Let’s move to…
Step 2
Realise what it is exactly that you want.
Answering these questions will help you discover exactly that:
- Where am I currently?
- What’s next?
- Where am I currently heading? Is it where I want to go?
- If I had all options open, what would I do? Where would I go?
- Where do I see myself in 5 months?
- Where do I want to be headed? How will I get there? What support do I need to get there?
- What will keep me on track?
- How will I feel once I’ve completed it?
Did you manage to visualise a future for yourself? Perfect.
And now that we have this cleared up, we also need a plan. Consider it your personal action plan.

Step 3
To actually reach this visualization of your future, it is equally important to act on it. Allow these questions to help you:
- WHAT do I long for? WHAT do I want?
- WHEN do I want to achieve it?
- WHO or WHAT do I need?
Congratulations, you’ve made it. I hope these questions helped, if not completely, even a bit. You can always come back to them whenever you want; after all, our plans change all the time, and that is completely normal.
