What the Night Offers

Prompt for “night of the soul”

Nights of the soul, or the flashing comet, and nights of star-filled skies all merge as one to frame my days.

The night of the soul pierces with an intensity, a grief that shakes my core and reshapes my tomorrows.

What lurks beyond this bleak, overwhelming desolation?

A moonless night and I stumble on, praying for a glimmer, a solitary star, a comet to flash across the sky.

But nights of a comet, streaking through history, brought upheaval as easily as Roman gods tossed destruction into the world as it rode on the tail blasting through the sky and dropped fear into the eyes of the unlucky few who looked up.

Where can there be a night of hope for today?

But ever so slowly, nights of tears and upheaval will lighten into a dawn of rebirth;

The universe pulses with flickers of light, nova stars shine in brilliance if we seek the signs of awakening and rebirth as comets blaze across

foreshadowing now the night of brilliant stars when we feast our eyes upon the galaxies and twinkling lights that sparkle and appear in the expanse of night’s darkness as daylight fades away;

glimmer of hope, glint of light.

Nights of the soul, or nights of a comet racing through our lives, and nights of star-filled skies, all blend as one to frame our days.
