What I’ve Learned During the Coronavirus Crisis?

Humans are susceptible to various viruses, such as the deadly coronavirus. We meet people daily and can only know who is infected if we take the COVID-19 PCR or antigen test.

Our government expanded community quarantine to all towns and provinces in the Philippines. That is, no offices, shops, or businesses were open. Grocery stores and food markets have also reduced their time serving customers. Moreover, food hoarding is prohibited, cooperation is essential, and working at home is the trend.

My routine during the pandemic is very unusual. I have plenty of time to devote to my writing, but I need to be more motivated. Why am I unmotivated? Because no one knows when the crisis will end. How long does our food supply last? What happens next? Is the Philippine economy will collapse? These are some of my thoughts, but only God knows how and when this crisis will end.

What have I discovered during the Coronavirus Crisis?

The Negative Effects

During the pandemic, humanity is in danger. The lethal disease is spreading, and medical supplies are running out.

The Positive Results

On the contrary, the corona outbreak resulted in many helpful ways to people’s lives. It includes:

  • People know how to value others, even strangers. Observing social distancing, which is very effective in saving more lives, encourages someone to appreciate others.
  • People are forced to stay home because of the tighter community quarantine, which helps the family to become closer.
  • Because of the pandemic, we have more time with our families.
  • We must communicate regularly with our loved ones to ensure everyone is okay.
  • The coronavirus crisis also teaches us humility.

Reflection

The pandemic conforms to critical questions. How much more valuable are your loved ones’ lives or your own? Does your wealth are more valuable than your life?

Below are the significant answers:

  • Everyone obeyed orders for the greater good of others.
  • Politicians and high-profile individuals voluntarily support the greater good, even if it means making sacrifices.
  • Status and rank have no meaning in this crisis. Nobody is fortunate, and there is no rich-poor divide.
  • The coronavirus crisis has restored our faith.
  • Most people spend time praying — the restoration of faith began because prayer is more powerful than anything else.
  • Indeed, health is wealth because health is far more important than money.
  • At the moment, all worldly possessions are worthless.
  • A transportation ban (COVID-19 protocol) prevents you from driving your expensive car.
  • You may have enough money to buy things, but you can’t because all businesses except food and groceries have closed.
  • You can’t wear a fantastic outfit for parties because mass gatherings are prohibited.
  • You may have a great job but don’t know what the future holds or whether the employer’s business will survive.

So, what is the crux of this pandemic? What does it teach humans?

God Reminds Us to Slow Down

The Coronavirus is spreading, which results from industries, and the economy suffers. Victims and casualties increased, and many physicians died. Although a cure has been discovered, numerous barriers exist to implementing comprehensive immunization.

Is God abandoning humanity?

He never leaves His people. God wanted us to know that He is in control and that there is hope during our trials.

Humanity’s current predicament is a wake-up call that God is omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent. God exalted even the nation, or the earth would fall. He is capable of defeating pandemic diseases and other adversities.

What to do amid this crisis?

All we can do is be still in the presence of God. And trust God and surrender to His plan. You should invoke His name and pray. By doing so, he will never abandon you in times of distress.
