What It’s Like Being Married to Your Keyboard

Never give up, even when you don’t see results.

Here’s some advice I’d give to any of my friends in a relationship:

If you want to see results, marry them. And if you really want to see results, make love to them.

You’ll be surprised at what results you’ll get from that. Nudge nudge:)

Anyways, I’ve never shown consistency at anything in my life.

The only thing I’ve never given up on was working at a crappy movie theater for two years. I only stayed there to make a quick buck and got further in debt buying clothes online.

I tried starting a writing business but I couldn’t get a client after 500 cold-calls.

I tried flipping and reselling shoes on eBay only to buy five hundred dollars worth of product sitting in a box in my basement.

I tried starting a social media marketing agency by watching countless YouTube tutorials online. I learned how to run Facebook Ads and tried my luck with some local companies for free. As soon as I started charging for it…no dice.

Now I’m married to my keyboard to get my writing business off the ground and I believe it will work.

When I say I’m married to my keyboard, that doesn’t mean my fingers are glued to the keys all day. A common misconception people have is that they feel like they have to work twelve hours a day to be successful at something.

I’ve been writing every day for five months and counting, but I only write for an hour at best.

That hour each day is more than enough time to develop a good relationship with your keyboard to be an amazing writer. Heck, if people can spend thirty minutes on Tinder and have a good relationship, nothing is stopping you.

Trust in your partner and you’ll be an unstoppable team.

The previous relationships I’ve had with other business failed because I lacked one thing — consistency.

I always knew I loved writing, but I abandoned her the first time and left her out to dry. The other two weren’t even real relationships, just friends with benefits.

Understand that writing takes time. It’s a slow and steady relationship that needs to be cultivated over time.

In corny Jedi language, be one with your keyboard.

So if you’re ready to join writing in holy matrimony to become the most unstoppable duo in the world, say two words…

I do.
