4 important lessons for achieving Long term goals
Everyone dreams of bigger goals in life but what it takes to achieve them? Penning down a few points which I believe are important while you prepare yourself for achieving your long term goals —
- Clarity towards goal —
“Being clear about your purpose, vision and goals will put you in the top 3% of the world’s achievers”
Take some time, do research, speak with people but define clear goals. It helps you put constructive efforts and help you stick with goals for long.
2. Focus on Daily achievements and process —
No matter how big your goal is, always remember “Rome was not built in a day”
Indeed, the first tip for achieving your goals is to know that your mind will respond better to small steps than to giant leaps.
While you achieve and celebrate those mini-goals on daily basis you will feel more motivated and driven for a bigger goal.
While preparing for the IIT Entrance exam (toughest exam of India) I use to solve 100–200 daily practice problems and after solving them I tick with the “right” sign in front of them.
Finishing daily problems always gave me a sense of achievement end of the day and kept me motivated for the next day. And after 2 years while giving an exam I was not only the most confident guy in the room but could also clear exam with ease.
3. Surround yourself with people of similar Goals and Positive mindset —
Surrounding yourself with people of similar goals will not keep you motivated and inspired but also helps you in finding solutions and directions when you are stuck.
Also, as per research “being around someone with a positive attitude can improve your outlook by 11 percent. However, being around someone with a negative attitude can make your outlook more negative by a whopping 50 percent”. Hence, the choice is yours.
4. Health and Fitness —
For most of the success stories, you will find that being healthy and being successful are linked. People who eat healthily and do exercise daily are more confident, better able to focus, and are more likely to follow through on goals.
Hence, Healthy habits like regular Exercise, Walk/Running, Meditation, Healthy food in the diet should be like a staple in your routine.
