Summary

The website content discusses a poetry prompt that encourages writers to explore diverse themes in their poetry, suggesting that poems can be about any subject, not just traditional ones like nature, love, or spirituality.

Abstract

The web content presents a poetry prompt titled "What is your poetry about?" which challenges the conventional notion that poetry must revolve around established themes such as nature, love, or spirituality. It proposes that a poem about something as mundane as a ketchup sandwich could be as memorable as a poem about stealing plums. The author, Lucy Dan, likens poems to personal photographs taken through a unique and imperfect lens, emphasizing that poetry can evoke joy, provoke thought, and challenge preconceived notions. The content includes a call to action for poets to participate in the prompt by writing and submitting their work, either to "The Brain is a Noodle" publication on Medium or by tagging the author if submitted elsewhere. The author also mentions an app they have created and shares links to some of their other works and writing prompts.

  • Poems are a medium for sharing diverse perspectives, even if they are unconventional or "won

To me, poems are like photographs that are seen through my distorted lens, unstandardized, messy a little wonky at best, but perspectives still worth sharing and lens worth seeing through because sometimes they bring joy and laughter, and sometimes they challenge assumptions.
