Personal Legends

I have always wanted to read the Alchemist. I turned to Four Minute Books as the perfect solution for the moment. Their four-minute summary served as a great preview. Some of the key points from the book really resonated with me.

The site’s favorite quote was the first thing I read. I couldn’t believe how connected it was with several other sparks that have recently shown up in my life.

And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it. — Paulo Coelho

It was like a firework display in my brain connecting many recent messages. I have been reading and writing about: manifesting what I want in my life, ridding negative self-talk, self-love, and perspectives. Then, as I read on, there were even more fireworks.

The first and second messages in the summary were around having the courage to overcome everything that holds you back from pursuing your biggest dreams (your Personal Legend) and not letting the fear of the unknown stand in the way of living your fullest life.

Feelings to Feed the Fire

Just this week my Louise Hay book group is covering the concept that there are only two places that we operate from: fear or love. We engaged in some exercises to identify and release our fears and rewrite our story with affirmations to manifest what we really want in order to live our fullest lives.

Another connection that randomly popped up this week was the poem, The Guest House, by Jalal ad-Dīn Muhammad Rumi. The message I take from it is that we must feel all of our feelings. They are all welcome. They all serve a purpose.

This is one of my struggle points. I am out of touch with my feelings. I struggle to identify them and their purpose. It is not easy for me to recognize and label my fears. I don’t notice or think about them. Until I get better at this step it will be impossible to release my fears and the beliefs and needs that have developed around them. This is my work. This is what will allow me to get out of my own way so my sparks of greatness can ignite into a warm fire that can shine beyond me.

From Sparks to Fire

We can change our heart rhythm and our chemistry through HeartMath, exercise, gratitude, and awe as well as anger, frustration, and fear. We can improve our own balance, awareness, and health — physical and mental. There are so many philosophies and tools available to set the right conditions and accelerate our growth. We have to find the pieces that work for us. This is our step of gathering dry tinder as a fire starter, scraping the flint together to get the sparks, and finding the dry wood to feed the fire. If we skip these steps our fire may never get started or we may risk burnout before our fire is roaring.

I am at a point of staying open and taking note of my feelings and of the messages that are being presented to me by the universe. I am in awe of the fireworks displays in my brain when these ideas connect and bring me closer to my best self. I am enjoying the process of creating my personal legend.

What are you doing to create your personal legend?
